I have spent the last 2 years working in aged care, providing assistance with daily living-such as showering, getting ready for the day, assisting with meals, cleaning rooms, using lifters to assist people with mobility, working night shift with limited staff and ensuring people are safe throughout the night, providing friendship and social care to people, checking observations (blood pressure, bgl’s, temp, pulse) for residents, cleaning, assisting with rehabilitation for people who have had recent injuries and surgeries, working with people affected with dementia, looking after people with acquired brain injuries and physical disabilities as well as life limiting illnesses and providing care for those who are palliative. I have loved every second of this role and have now moved to the Gold Coast in the hopes of continuing to provide these services to those who need a nurturing and professional carer.
