I worked in the UK from 2013 - 2017 as a carer, housekeeper and sometimes gardener!. My positions ranged from a short stay of post-operative care (6 weeks) and vacation relief for a permanent carer to go on long leave (2 months) to positions of a year or more. I have had some experience in caring for clients with Alzheimers. My responsibilities included companionship - which could include anything from eating together, scrabble and jigsaws, gardening, outings, shopping and watching tv to name but a few - to preparation of meals, looking after pets and general tidying. I'm semi retired, an active and happy person and am from South Africa, via the UK. I'm a happy, active person and enjoy most things but particularly sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, theatre, walking, swimming and exploring the area. Am interested in what's happening around us and do some voluntary work.
