Hi, my name is Julina and I am 22 years old. I have recently graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Paramedic Science and am now a registered paramedic with AHPRA. I have completed 3x 240 clinical placements with the Queensland Ambulance Service where I cared for many different demographics, the main ones being geriatric and vulnerable populations. I have spent the last 7 months working as a personal care worker in residential aged care. I also acted as a live-in carer for 3 years for my 86 year old grandmother diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I was responsible for medication administration, meal preparation and cooking, household cleaning and laundry, assisting in showering and dressing, mobility assistance and incontinence management. I also assisted in lift assists, injury checks and treatments. I have had training in infection control, receive a yearly flu shot and have received 3 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. I have excellent communication skills and have experience interacting with people with dementia, hearing loss, physical deficits (eg slurred speech post-stroke), and intellectual disabilities. I enjoy looking after others and understand the responsibility and privilege that comes with being a carer.
