For the last 10 plus years I have been helping to care for my parents. Mum had Alzheimer’s then Dad was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s Disease. I am very understanding of what is involved caring for a beloved family member with all the challenges that go along with it. I have been there and know how each day can perhaps start off well then very quickly go in another direction. I am patient and understanding of the mood swings that sometimes occur and have several strategies I used with my parents to calm down the atmosphere. Sometimes gentle music, songs and reading is all that’s needed to change the mood. I don’t have a certificate in Aged care but I do have all my safety checks in place i.e National Police check, WWC , Level 2 First Aid , having worked as a Community Support Worker last year. The position ended as the children I was caring for went into long term foster care. It would be great to have a chat and see if perhaps I might be looking for. I understand completely how important it is to find the right person for your senior loved one.
