I am a paramedic and nursing student at ACU. I have a very good relationship with the elderly family members in my family and enjoy spending time with older and disabled people. I enjoy learning from elderly people and speaking to them about their life. I was a carer for a man with MS and for several autistic children and adults for 3 years. I have done over 200 hours ambulance placement and have helped treat elderly patients. I know to do a GCS score to be able to screen for basic observational changes eg how to take BP heart rate, BGS etc as regularly as needed to spot a trend. I have been a carer for someone while in hospital and was able to alert the nurse to a downward trend in their BP early enough for MET call criteria to ensure their survival. I have learned to do my job well from some very experienced people and will always keep learning to improve my skills. I have a grateful, happy go lucky, athletic personality. I would like to help improve the lives of the people I work with.
