Greetings, I am a 38 year old male who has more than 2 years of experience in the age care sector. After 10 years in an office job, my passion for caring for the old age was reignited when my mom had a mild stroke and had to leave my work to care for her in the USA. When my mom got better, I worked at an assisted home living in Sacramento, USA for up to 9 months looking after 6 clients preparing meals, medication, personal care, transportation for check ups, cleaning the house, laundry and shopping. I also spent a year living in with a 86 year old who had back problems and needed assistance moving around the house and also companionship which I always enjoyed especially listening to their life experiences and flashbacks to their glory days. I also prepared meals, laundry, transportation, medication, shopping, manual handling when needed around the house and personal care. I love this work because you get to see first hand the fruits of your labour which gives you that satisfaction that is just priceless. I believe you have to have that trust which will make the work easier and I can say that I am also a trustworthy person. Trust is built on the daily conversation and sharing and doing the little things right.
