My name is Callista and I love to help people!

Caring for people makes me happy. I want to be able to learn and listen to others' experiences and to use the privilege that I have, as a young able person, to help others. I’ve volunteered at Hollywood Private Hospital as an Aged Carer for 1.5 years, where I attend to the needs of elderly patients with neurological and psychological illnesses such as Dementia, Alzheimer's, PTSD, depression, anxiety. In this role, I am responsible for manual handling, reading and chatting to patients, aiding movement, bringing patients for walks, feeding patients and providing foot and hand massages.
I have also worked in Disability and Childcare for 2 and 5 years, respectively! I recently did a term at a Special Needs school, where I worked with children aged 5 - 21 years with various disabilities, mostly on the Autism Spectrum. I aided them in self-care tasks such as toileting, showering, feeding, walking and other transportation. I also helped provide instructional assistance within a play-based curriculum and guide excursions.
I graduated from my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UWA in 2017, and am now completing my Honours at Murdoch University. I plan on doing a Ph.D in the Psychological Effects of Chronic Illness or Pain.
