Hello, We have recently moved to Canberra and are looking for a reliable nanny/babysitter to help us juggle our family work commitments and our small humans. We are offering regular days for 3hours preferably on a Monday and Wednesday afternoon for 2 children between 3pm -6pm. This will be school pick ups, commuting to afternoon activities and helping with homework, maybe even a hello fresh creation. We would also be offering two hours on Saturday morning 7:30am-09:30am and the odd babysitting gig at night. We are looking for someone to help us look after our two boys and keep our busy household running. We are full-time ANU professors whose jobs are getting more demanding. We have 2 boys, aged 6 and 8 and are (we think!) a loving and fun family. Working hours are 11am to 6.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus variable hours on Thursday evenings (usually 3-4 hours) for babysitting. Weekly responsibilities include: - Picking the boys’ up from Forrest school on Mondays and Tuesdays at 3pm (walking, possibly with the boys on their bikes, or in car). We live 15 minutes’ walk away or 3 minutes’ drive - Driving boys to nearby after-school clubs - Reading, playing or swimming with the boys while at home - Feeding the boys dinner on Mondays and Tuesdays – either cooking or heating pre-prepared food at home, or occasionally eating out with them - Babysitting on Thursday evenings, usually from 7.30pm until around 10.30pm - Light cleaning in the living areas and bedrooms, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and mopping - Cleaning the kitchen and laundry, including wiping down counters, appliances, cabinet doors, taps, and sinks - Cleaning the bathrooms, including basins, taps, toilets, mirrors, baths, and showers - Washing and putting away the boys’ clothes - Ironing adult clothes (this usually takes me 45-60 minutes) - Changing bed linens and making up beds (once a fortnight for each of the main bed and boys’ beds) - Washing and ironing bed linen - Washing and drying towels - Removing recycling and garbage as needed - General room tidying such as light organising and putting away toys - Running occasional errands eg dropping parcels at the post office, picking up a few groceries. - Letting the dog out into the garden/ walking the dog to the school pickup if we get a dog. The boys are pretty easygoing - they're bundles of energy and love to play outside. The house is less easygoing – at the moment it’s being renovated, but in a few months it should be lovely. We’re generally clean and tidy and have always treated people who help to take care of our boys and house with respect. There will be extra hours if you'd like them in school holidays or if we (parents) go away overnight. We are looking for an experienced babysitter to look after our two children aged 5 and 2 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons approx. 4:30-7pm. They will need to be collected from after-school care/daycare in Forrest and then brought home to Deakin. We can provide car seats but a suitable car will be required for this. Once home there should be plenty to entertain the kids. They will need dinner, but we are happy with something very simple or heating of leftovers/ready-made meals. Parents should both be home by 630pm, but require babysitter until 7pm to assist with evening routine and getting kids ready for bed.
