We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy person to help us care for our 6yo and 3yo sons, from 3:30-6:30pm (could be 3-6pm, 4-7pm or similar times) on Wednesday afternoons. Availability on other week days (to cover sick leave) or weekends would be advantageous but not essential. I (Catherine) will be home for most of the time with you, so you will have the opportunity to ask questions and become familiar with the boys and our household routines. Both our sons have Autism and we have a wonderful therapy team to help us understand their needs. Our 6yo son talks well and our younger boy is just learning to talk. The role involves: - Cooking simple dinners. This can be dependant on your enjoyment of/comfort with cooking. It could be something simple like cooking pasta to go with frozen spaghetti mince or cooking meat with vegies/salad, or more adventurous if you would like this. - Folding a load of the boy’s washing and putting it away - Emptying and stacking the dishwasher - Making snacks for the boys - I will change the 3yo’s nappies and supervise toilet visits for the 6yo when I am home. However when you are comfortable being alone with the boys (if we go out on a weekend etc), then I’ll show you the routines for nappy changes and toilet visits. We have a fortnightly cleaner, so beyond tidying/cleaning the kitchen area and tidying the children’s toys, cleaning is not required. We have a small team of babysitters/carers for the boys plus allied health therapists regularly in our home, so we are familiar with training and settling in new carers and have set up our kitchen/children’s area so it is easy to navigate. Our home is single-story with a back garden and play equipment. There is ample parking in our quiet street and the location is easily accessible from main roads.
