Seeking Regular Pet Sitter For 2 Senior Dogs - In House Sitting -...
$15 – $20/hr • One time • Starts Nov 27 • Brighton, CO
We are looking for a regular pet sitter for our two dogs, Hero and Tonks. They are both seniors so they are low energy - they prefer gettinglet out in the backyard to chase squirrels and go to the bathroom rather than walks. They are both on oral medication. Our next upcoming trips are for Thanksgiving (11/27 - 11/30) and Christmas (12/21 - 12/27). We would prefer to have someone who can stay at our home, and for the first two trips arrange to be here when we leave for the airport.
Large breed experience, particularly German Shepherds, is preferred. Would also prefer someone who has experience with senior dogs or special needs dogs.
Hero (GSD, 10 years, male) and Tonks (English Setter mix, 10 years, female)
Hero is a large (100lbs) German Shepherd who still likes to play despite his age, although his play sessions are pretty short these days. He is very sweet and is protective of us, and a little anxious like most GSDs. He prefers people who are confident around big dogs - he almost seems offended when people are scared of him. He definitely goes "off duty" when we aren't home and is always polite to our guests and past sitters.
Tonks is a medium sized (50lbs) rascal with a big personality. She was abused prior to us adopting her so she has a hard time with strangers, but she is very easily bribed with treats. Once she accepts you into her circle she would fight a bear for you. She has a large vocabulary (about 40 words).
Hero has some stomach sensitivities so he gets a probiotic once a day, and antacids twice a day. He had a prescription food diet that we drizzle with an additive to make it more flavorful. Every so often his stomach gets irritated and we supplement his food with rice.
Tonks has Cushing's Disease so she takes two medicines - 2 in the morning and 1 after dinner. She also has back arthritis which flares infrequently that we have pain medicine for. One of the medicines that she is on (Vetoryl) could cause her to become really ill, so we have to watch for vomiting, lethargy, and diarrhea as that could be a sign she needs to go the ER.
Hero is very respectful of small dogs and female dogs. He tends to get a bit alpha with other male dogs.
Tonks is not great with other dogs. She is nice to cats!
We have ample street parking in front of our house. … more
