About

This course will focus on sewing for fashion design. We will cover the basic principles of apparel development from patterning through construction. This includes drape patterning, sewing techniques, garment assembly, and adjusting for perfect fit.

Students will be introduced to the innovative problem solving required to take a two dimensional form and fit a three dimensional figure.

Two - Four finished garments - with process photos
Portfolio of Seam and Hem samples
Portfolio of Textiles - Textile Identification Book with Swatches

Each student will have a Design Binder. Design binders will house designs, loose papers and sewing samples.

Students will also need to bring or purchase a sewing project which includes Pattern, fabric and thread.

Classes will be held on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30

Each In-Person Sewing & Pattern Making Class size limited to 6students. Fashion Design Classes are limited to 8 students.

Each student will have a sketchbook (provided) & design binder (also provided) that will be reviewed weekly. Sketchbooks will travel back and forth from home to class and students will be required to sketch for 5 hours a week in addition to class time sketching and instruction. Design binders will house designs, loose papers and sewing samples.

Students should bring their sketchbook each day they come to class. Projects can remain at The Sewing Room.

Cancellation Policy - Please make sure you are able to commit to the classes before you register. Cancellations with refunds will only be accepted for two weeks before classes commence in September. Student may make up a missed class by attending one of our weekly sewing classes provided there is space.

Please do not come to class if you are sick. Masks optional.
