About

For students who have completed the Soulful Solfège class, our musical adventures continue in the caverns below the kingdom of Solfeggio in the realm of Ta. There are no musical instruments necessary for this class, the only instrument you will need is your voice!

Hidden in the storyline of the captivating novella, King Ritmo and the Realm of Ta, are musical concepts to discover. We will read our way through the novella together, and along the way discover how rhythm can be felt in our bodies and a unique musical language we can use to speak it!

Each class will begin with an active listening example of a piece of beloved music from different global regions. Students will create art based on these examples, and sometimes engage in interpretive dance! Mrs. H will share some interesting info about the piece, and then it is on to the realm of Ta!

After reading through a chapter of the novella together (emergent readers are encouraged to simply listen) students will create art, sing songs, and put into practice the mystery musical idea hidden within that chapter's story. Between class meetings, to further experience this rhythmic exploration, students will be gradually building a real, working musical instrument throughout the duration of the class. (Some steps will require caregiver supervision/participation)

Inspired by blending the Kodály approach to music education and the Waldorf approach to literacy, the holistic methods in the Magical Language of Music classes provide students with an enjoyable experience that allows them to conceptualize musical concepts in an imaginative way.
