Gymnast Expectations For Competition: (From Our Parent Handbook)

Prepare Your Body with adequate sleep and the right kinds of foods before a meet.

Come With Goals, excitement and positive energy.

Good Sportsmanship - this means supporting your team AND the other teams. The competition floor is a lot less stressful when you cheer for each other. Bad sportsmanship includes bragging about scores, speaking badly of others, and not cheering for your team.

Good attitude - there will be no pouting, complaining about scores, or crying at a competition. We go into every competition knowing what our strengths and weaknesses are and knowing that anything can happen. Use setbacks to drive you.

Have Fun!!!

A consistent negative attitude (bad sportsmanship, crying, pouting, etc) will get you scratched from the remainder of the competition and/or suspended from the next competition.

Parent Expectations:

Rule of Thumb: No gym wants to be the one with “those parents.”

Good sportsmanship! You want your child to do well - so does everyone else.

Respect the Judges and Coaches: do not yell out to judges/coaches and under no circumstance should you approach either for any reason at a meet.

Refrain From Speaking To/Coaching Your Gymnast: This distracts both them and the coaches from their performance.

Keep a Positive Attitude: meet performance and expectations change through the season.

Stress Performance and Attitude to your gymnast - Not Scores.

Avoid Comparing your gymnast with her teammates.

Never contact a gym that’s hosting a meet. Your coaches will notify you of the days/times of meets as soon as they are available to us.

Negative behavior from parents could potentially lead to competition suspension, and ultimately your daughter’s exclusion from further competitions.
