A North Carolina mom wants an ex-employee from her son’s day care arrested after she says the employee breastfed her son without her permission.
According to reporters at W.T.V.D., a local T.V. news station, the Carrboro day care worker noticed that the baby boy was constipated and offered to breastfeed him as a way to help. Mom Kaycee Oxendine declined the offer twice, but a surveillance camera inside the day care caught the woman adjusting her shirt and bringing the baby to her chest after Oxendine left the room.
Oxendine’s 3-month-old son was born premature and is lactose intolerant, she told reporters. After the breastfeeding incident, the baby was hospitalized but now doing better now.
“To me, a criminal act was committed against him,” Oxendine told reporters. “Not only did you put your breast to my son, you also made my son sick because he’s lactose intolerant. So you’ve put something in his body that his body can’t digest.”
The day care worker in question apparently had more than 10 years of child care experience, and was nursing her own 2-month-old child. The woman was fired and, although she has not been arrested, she could face child abuse charges.
