Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year. That being said, between presents and decorations, it can be one of the most expensive times of the year too.
To bring festive cheer to your home without breaking the bank, here are some easy Christmas decor ideas.
1) A Christmas tree (of course!)
While there is something magical about the look of white lights and coordinated decorations, it is not always the easiest. Instead, why not try multi-coloured lights and a fun mix of ornaments for the kids to hang on the tree. It may not be the most elegant look, but the kids will love it.
2) Stockings
Hang stockings by the fireplace, because it’s a great tradition!
3) Christmas throw rugs and pillows
Swap out the couch pillows and rugs for ones with Christmas patterns on them. It’s amazing how that changes the look of the room.
4) Indoor lights
If you have lights hanging up outdoors, you can also hang a couple of strands indoors. This creates a magical look, and you can even keep some up year round.
5) Bowls of pine cones
Let your kids pick pine cones from the back garden or nearby park. They look beautiful in a big glass bowl with a few strands of Christmas ribbon.
6) LED candles
There are a lot of these in the shops this year. If you have kids or pets, LED candles are a great way to have the beauty of candles without the fire risk.
7) The nativity
Setting up a nativity scene can be a good way to show kids the reason we celebrate Christmas. If you don’t want to invest in one, your kids can dress up their dolls and toys to create the scene.
If you are struggling to manage all the Christmas chores this year, why not call in a housekeeper to help over the holidays?
