Have you purchased any patio furniture from Home Depot in the last 10 years? If so, you may want to check your chairs.
The major retailer, along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, issued the recall earlier this week after customers claimed that their chairs collapsed during regular use. According to the C.P.S.C., “The firm has received 25 reports of the chairs breaking, resulting in bruising and scrapes from falls.”
The faulty furniture, manufactured by Casual Living Worldwide, was sold exclusively at both brick-and-mortar Home Depot stores, as well as online, from Jan. 2007 to Feb. 2016.
The following two-piece and seven-piece outdoor seating sets are included in the recall:
- Hampton Bay Anselmo swivel patio chairs
- Calabria swivel patio chairs
- Dana Point swivel patio chairs
- Martha Stewart Living-branded Cardona swivel patio chairs
- Martha Stewart Living-branded Grand Bank swivel patio chairs
- Martha Stewart Living-branded Wellington
So, what should you do if these chairs are on your outside deck? The safety commission advises consumers to stop use immediately and contact Casual Living Worldwide for a repair kit.
The commission also noted that about 30,000 units of the chairs were sold in Canada and 14,000 in Mexico.
Please visit the safety commission’s website for more information on this recall, including how to formally request a repair kit from Casual Living Worldwide.
