Pink’s Advice to Moms Losing Weight: ‘Stay Off That Scale’

Celebrity mama of two Pink recently took to Instagram to share some inspiring words with fellow moms who might be struggling to lose their extra baby weight.

“Would you believe I’m 160 pounds and 5’3″?” the singer, 37, wrote to go with the above photo of herself dressed in workout clothes and surrounded by exercise equipment. “By ‘regular standards’ that makes me obese. I know I’m not at my goal or anywhere near it after Baby 2 but dammit I don’t feel obese.”

The singer-songwriter gave birth in December to her second child, Jameson Moon Hart. She and husband Carey Hart also have a 5-year-old daughter, Willow Sage Hart.

Welcoming a new baby to the family can be stressful. No one is getting enough sleep, and it can be hard to find time to shower let alone exercise. The singer had some additional comments: “The only thing I’m feeling is myself. Stay off that scale ladies!”

We’ve all heard or read that simple phrase before: Stay off the scale. Any personal trainer or nutritionist will tell you to focus on how your body feels and how your clothes fit instead of obsessing over a number. It takes time to see that number go down, and if we’re always worried about it, it can be harder to stick to our diet and exercise goals.

This isn’t the first time Pink has shared details of her weight-loss journey with the public. In February she shared a photo of herself and personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins.

“Day 1!!!!!!!!” she captioned the photo. “(Week 6 post baby and I haven’t lost ANY WEIGHT YET!!!!) Yay me!!!!! I’m normal!”

Refreshingly normal, we’d say.
