Lizette Porter knows how much her husband, Keven, means to their little girl, Ashley. So she set up a very special tea party between the a U.S. Marine Corps drill instructor and the 4-year-old girl and invited a photographer along to capture the sweet moments.
“My husband had no idea what was going to happen until we showed up to the shoot,” Porter told ABC News. “He was hesitant at first, but after a little talking I was able to convince him. He would do anything for Ashley.”
The mom told the network that due to her husband’s demanding work schedule, deployment and job as a drill instructor, the two don’t get to see each other very often.
“Any time they can get together she is sure to take advantage of,” she said, adding that she also wanted to showcase a different side of her husband outside of work, and the timing was perfect because April is the Month of the Military Child.
“Drill instructors still have a life after working long and hard hours,” Porter said. “Many of them have families that after hours they still have to attend to… and yes, a lot of them have a completely different side to them.”
It’s safe to say these are photos the Porter family will cherish for years to come.
“I got emotional watching them just be themselves and see how much she loves her daddy,” the proud mother said.
