The wait is over! April the Giraffe gave birth to a healthy male calf Saturday as millions of social media users around the world tuned in to the highly anticipated Facebook Live event.
The giraffe’s pregnancy and birth have been widely shared across social media, and now Animal Adventure Park is inviting its faithful followers to help name its newest addition — but it will cost you.
Animal Adventure Park’s official promotion, which runs for 10 days, invites fans to submit as many names as they’d like for a cost of $1 per submission, with a minimum of five required submissions.
The proceeds will go toward the park’s giraffe conservation efforts, improving the animal and guest experiences at the park, and Ava’s Little Heroes, an event organized by Animal Adventure Park owner Jordan Patch to raise money for her young daughter, Ava, who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy.
After the submission period, the park will announce the top 10 names and invite people to vote for their favorite over a five-day period.
Roughly 6.2 million people across the globe watched as the adorable animal made his entry into the world April 15. The 5-foot-9-inch calf weighed 129 pounds at his most recent checkup. Mother and son are doing well, according to the park.
