Like any good Millennial, my usual morning routine goes like this:
- Wake up
- Check Facebook to see if anything awesome happened while I was sleeping that had absolutely nothing to do with this year’s presidential election
- Get out of bed
- Try to be an adult
This morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the first thing to pop up in my Newsfeed wasn’t about violence, about death, about hate, or about any kind of conflict whatsoever. Instead, it was this beautiful, heartwarming video of a young kid giving his stepdad the best surprise he could’ve given him: adoption papers.

I cried. I cried a lot.
And because I’m a little bit of a masochist when it comes to videos with all the feels, I started watching video after video of different kids — and young adults — giving their stepdads adoption papers. The combo of such a kind, thoughtful, and poignant gesture with people crying gets me EVERY.FREAKING.TIME.
So if you want to start your day off right, with a little happiness and a whole lot of love, feel free to watch these videos as well (and be prepared to cry in your cubicle):
