Oh, 2020. How much did you suck? Let us count the ways. While, no doubt, there isn’t a soul in the world who couldn’t rattle off at least a few things that made this past year terrible, the silver lining of the pandemic is that it made for some great holiday card fodder.
There’s a time and a place for cards that wish people season’s greetings and spread holiday cheer. This was not that year. Here are 15 holiday cards that capture the spirit of 2020.
1. WFH vibes
Zoom meeting? Check. Toilet paper? Check. A glass of red while you’re still in your PJs? Check. This holiday card from Erika Gendreau is all of us this past year.
2. Pandemic… but make it festive
You’ve gotta hand it to Emma Willburn. Her family’s naughty elves holiday card this year really made the best of a bad situation.
3. One star
Ask anyone to rate 2020 and they’ll give it one star — if they’re feeling generous. Heather Castillo of The Super Mom Life nailed it with her quarantined family holiday card this year.
4. Armageddon
If 2020 were a movie, it would be “Armageddon” — and this explosive holiday card from Alisa of Timber and Chain captures the sentiment perfectly.
5. Mask up
When you’re dressed up and looking cute but have to wear a mask. That’s 2020 2020ing so hard! We love how Bella Photography managed to capture the mood of 2020 while still keeping it low-key festive.
6. The face of all of us
While the mask ornaments and Clorox wipes surrounding the tree in Tara Walton’s Christmas card speak to us, it’s the expression on the model’s face that gets us on a spiritual level.
7. The pets are over it, too
We really relate to Butter, Sam and Tuna in this pet-centric holiday card from Snugglebug Sam. Clearly, they’ve had enough.
8. Armageddon… with booze
Just don’t forget the wine and beer! This apocalyptic holiday card from Kelly’s Photo Creations obviously understands that alcohol was part of the glue that held this mess of a year together.
9. Year in review
Ahh, the word cloud that sums up 2020 perfectly. We love how this 2020 year in review holiday card from Ravenwoods Farm managed to get in all the buzz words from this year. May we never utter them again!
10. Hoarded paper products tree
It may not be a traditional tree, but hey, this year was anything but traditional. Respect to Bellmont Family Daily for getting super creative for this year’s Christmas card.
11. First rule of 2021
Never talk about 2020 again? Now that’s something we can get behind. Heather Ann hit the nail on the head with her family holiday card taken by Between the Pines Photography.
12. Dumpster fire
On many occasions, this past year was referred to as a “dumpster fire” — because that’s exactly what it was. We love how this funny holiday card from Season Moore Photo managed to work in that theme — perfect!
13. Doing all the things
Working, gaming, drinking — all while surrounded by toilet paper and disinfectant wipes. Yeah, this holiday cheer card from Family Macro Mom — taken by McKinley G Photography — is 2020 alright.
14. Parent break
Kids fighting, kids being cute, mama needing a drink and dad sneaking in a cig. This uncensored holiday card from Barbie Girl 666 no doubt resonates with many this year.
15. Laughing through the tears
When life hands you a dumpster fire, make like Leslie Nash Designs and laugh in its face. Just don’t forget the toilet paper! Love this 2020 holiday card!
