Autumn Care: Prolong the Summer Feeling

Don’t let the autumn blues creep in. With these tips you can keep the relaxed summer feeling throughout the golden autumn.

Looking for elderly carers? Find carers in your area now.

1. Enjoy the sun in autumn

While the power of the sun is diminishing, it does still carry warmth and strength. Make the most of the waning sun by grabbing a blanket and lying out in the park, in your garden or on the balcony, and snuggling up with a warm cardigan and good book. Both your mood and vitamin D supplies will thank you!

2. Go on a family trip

Make the most of the Indian Summer and go on a family trip for the weekend. Nearby beaches, lakes and forests are the ideal spot to bask in the last of the sunshine with your kids or grandkids.

3.  Get help for the house and garden

It has been some time since the spring clean and another big clean is in order. As well, the garden is currently in its autumn bloom and will soon need to be prepped for winter. If the thought of cleaning and gardening drives all the summer happiness from you, consider hiring household help. A housekeeper, cleaner or gardener will take these difficult tasks off your hands so you can have more time to enjoy the autumn with your loved ones.

4. Design autumn decorations

From red to yellow to gold, autumn presents us with the most beautiful colours that nature has to offer. So why not bring a little of the outdoor beauty into your home to make it extra cosy? A white or cream lampshade is the perfect item to decorate with orange and brown leaves that you collected on a walk. Or decorate felt baskets with brightly coloured leaves, chestnuts and pine cones. With these autumn decorations abounding, you won’t even notice the summer sun slowly ebbing away.
