One dad has a message to those husbands who “steal sleep” from their wives on the weekends: Stop it right now.
Dale Partridge, an entrepreneur, husband and father, praised the job duties of his wife, a stay-at-home mom, on Facebook last month, saying that husbands are “no more entitled to a restful weekend” than their wives.
“The luxury of rest is a gift many men steal from their wives each weekend,” Partridge wrote, reminding husbands to remember that the 40-hour work week is a cultural standard and that the “badge of breadwinner” isn’t your free ticket to get out of home duties on Saturdays and Sundays.
“She spends all week serving me and the kids. I spend all week serving the bills. Most men think it’s a fair trade, but I doubt it,” Partridge wrote, recognizing how much effort his wife puts in with running the household.
Partridge added that it’s OK to rest, but make sure it’s not only you that’s doing the resting!
His post, which featured a heartwarming picture of his wife and child, garnered thousands of shares, likes and comments on Facebook– some from wives praising their husbands for doing their share of home duties and being a strong support system.
The post also sparked some husbands to call out their wives to show appreciation for all they do — both at work and at home.
