It’s their Instagram accounts and they’ll do what they want to — and that includes posting breastfeeding photos and selfies, thankyouverymuch. Over the years, we’ve seen an uptick in celebrity moms sharing nursing and/or pumping photos to social media and we are here for it, because anything that helps normalize breastfeeding is a win for moms.
From Olivia Wilde’s selfie with her “drinking buddy” to Ali Wong’s sweet photo — and hilarious commentary — on nursing, here are 23 photos of celebrity moms breastfeeding. Hashtag: Gorgeous.
1. Chrissy Teigen
Fans loved this sweet photo Teigen shared of her son Miles eating, but when the model and cookbook author breastfed for the first time, she was caught off guard. “The feeding schedule surprised me a lot. If you kind of do the math, you’re kind of breastfeeding for 10 hours a day total,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.” “It’s very loving and sweet, but it’s not easy. They just use you for your milk and you just feel like you are just a cow all day.”
2. Shay Mitchell
Shortly after the birth of her first daughter, Atlas Noa, the “Pretty Little Liars” actress shared a beautiful breastfeeding snap to Instagram, along with the pun: “Breast friends.”

6. Liv Tyler
Even though it was originally intended for her husband, Tyler wound up sharing this breastfeeding photo with baby Lula on Instagram, as well. “Honestly, I took that picture for David because we were in bed snuggling and he was at work … There should be no stigma — it’s a very beautiful and natural thing,” the actress told People.
7. Rachel McAdams
Just like any breastfeeding, working mom, Rachel McAdams had to take time out of her photoshoot to pump milk for her 6-month-old son — and the result was pure gold.
8. Ali Wong
Speaking to NPR, funnywoman Ali Wong said: “I thought [breastfeeding] was supposed to be this beautiful bonding ceremony, where I would feel like I was sitting on a lily pad in a meadow and bunnies would gather at my feet. But really it’s like this savage ritual that just reminds you that all of us, we’re nothing but mammals.”
9. Jessica Alba
In 2018, Alba got real with Yahoo about her breastfeeding troubles, saying, “I produced a lot of breast milk with my first, but my baby didn’t want to feed on me. My second child was into it, but my milk supply was not as much. And with my third, my supply was not enough for him, so after three weeks I did a combination feed.” Every baby’s different!

And in 2017, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she said: “It’s such a weird thing that people have such strong opinions about breastfeeding. It’s a child, and it needs to eat. I’m feeding my kid. Would you rather him scream? Because he’s very capable of that, too.”
13. Alyssa Milano
In 2015, Milano spoke out about the unhealthy perception many people have about breasts. “Everyone’s fine with [Miley Cyrus’] nipples being out, but if I post a picture of me breastfeeding it’s like, you know, craziness,” she told “Entertainment Tonight,” referring to the singer’s appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. “You know, I think people are more comfortable sexualizing breasts than relating them to what they were made for, which is feeding another human. It’s crazy.”
14. Tess Holliday
When model Tess Holliday nursed her son Bowie at the Women’s March in L.A., the moment was captured by a friend. Holliday then posted the photo to Instagram, saying, “To those saying that I should ‘cover up,’ you mean when I’m breastfeeding MY baby who was a) hungry & b) screaming because he was overly tired & the crowd overloaded his senses & it was the only way to comfort him?!
