It feels like everyone I know is expecting these days and I love being able to help and plan baby showers for all of my friends. The hardest part is coming up with a fun and festive theme where gender doesn’t always matter. Here are some of my ideas for a fun baby shower theme:
Fiesta
It isn’t a real party until you have a piñata! Having a fiesta-themed party is a great way to celebrate the new baby coming into the world. Appetizers like chips and salsa are easy to prepare and you can serve food in the form of a taco or burrito bar.
Decorate the house with papel picado, sombreros and fun and funky colors. As far as favors for your fiesta themed party go, you can give out mini piñatas (pictured below) with candy or other treats inside of them. They are sweet little keepsakes that match your theme perfectly.
Woodland Creatures
Who doesn’t love woodland creatures? If you’re totally in love with woodland creatures, it’s a great way to get props and items for your baby’s nursery while decorating a fun baby shower.
Everyone at the shower can dress up like a different woodland creature, and you can have a fun paradise of your own for your shower.
DIY
While this may not sound like a theme, it actually can be a lot of fun. Decorate your entire space with different craft stations for babies. For example, you can have a station where you make baby headbands (shown below) or a place where you make wall art for your baby’s nursery. If you have a lot of fun and creative friends a DIY or Crafters theme can be a really fun time for everyone.
Candyland
Who doesn’t love playing the game candyland? And, who doesn’t love candy? Create a magical wonderland of candy while playing the game candyland. You can decorate all of the tables with sweet trees (shown below) and have candy-centered games and activities.
Harry Potter
For those who love the Harry Potter books, a Harry Potter themed shower may just have all the elements they want! You can even play a game where people have to guess which house the baby would be sorted into. Decor can feature items like a sorting hat piñata (shown below) and banners for all of the different houses.
Books
Is the mother-to-be an avid reader? You can create a magical atmosphere for a baby shower in a library or bookstore. Everyone who comes can bring a book to fill the baby’s bookshelf! You can feature characters on the wall from the Mr & Mrs books, and create luminaries and other decorations from old book pages. Even send out invitations that look like children’s books (shown below).
