Is your cat or dog is having trouble keeping their food down? If so, they may be eating too quickly. When your pet eats too rapidly they are often unable to retain their food because they can’t digest it fast enough. Alternatively your pet can fall subject to something called bloat. Bloat is a condition caused by inhaling air while eating too quickly, and can require a surgical procedure to reverse. The good news is there’s a quick and simple solution! In order to curb your pet’s eating habits, the slow-feeder was invented. These feeders help create healthier eating behaviors and keep mealtimes engaging. Where there are multiple brands and versions of slow feeders, about any of them will do the trick. To use, simply fill your new feeder to just below the prong or maze walls, and allow your pet to work for their food!
Tip: Want to see if a slow feeder will work for you without spending the money first? Try using a cookie or baking sheet. Simply spread your pets kibble out on the pan and allow your pet to eat. You should be able to observe them eating more slowly as they have to search around the pan for their kibble. Monitor your pet’s reaction in the next couple of hours (or whenever they tend to have their digestion issues) to determine if this simple solution works for you!
