Milo V., a children’s fitness instructor in Austin, TX, chats with Care.com about how his profession allows him to set children up for a healthy lifestyle.
Austin, TX – “I work with kids helping them feel accomplished and in control of their health and fitness. We feel that kids need to get out. They need to jump on things, climb on things, be outdoors enjoying the sun, and simply be a kid.
Unfortunately, nowadays about 60% of kids in the United States are obese. That’s horrible! I want to prevent kids growing up with bad habits that will develop illness and disease in their life. We believe that if children are exposed to proper and fun fitness education, it will transfer to great fitness habits as an adult.
The sense of accomplishment kids feel at the gym can really change them to want to help themselves as well as others. I am motivated to let kids become aware that there is so much out there other than eating unhealthy and getting in trouble. After a while kids just want to constantly improve the quality of their health which is the ultimate goal.”
