BBC Midlands Today shared a video of 7-year-old Anu showing off her new prosthetic sports blade to her friends at school — and their reactions were the sweetest.
“Anu is seven and goes to school in Birmingham. Look what happened when she showed her friends her new sports blade. It’s just gorgeous!” the tweet read.
In the video, Anu runs up to her friends as they excitedly admire her new blade, giving her hugs before they test it out playing.
The now-viral video, which has been retweeted nearly 46,000 times and liked more than 76,000 times on Twitter, was part of a BBC Midlands Today story on the funding of prosthetics. England’s National Health Service received money last year for a program to provide activity prosthetics for children, according to The Telegraph.
Anu had to have her leg amputated shortly after she was born, according to the BBC. She has a prosthetic leg that she can wear daily, but the new sports blade was designed especially for her.
“It makes me run faster and do my street dancing faster,” Anu told the BBC.
Many replied to the adorable video that they were touched by Anu’s friends’ reactions.
“I cried. My daughter is 7 too. Looks just like her and wears spectacles like her,” one tweeted.
“Kids showing up all us adults how to treat each other equally no matter where or what they look like,” another tweeted.
