If you haven’t heard about the San Francisco Fire Department’s NERT program, you’ve got to check it out. Throughout the year the SFFD hosts 6 week training courses that are offered for FREE to community members to teach them about preparedness in multiple emergency situations. This program helps individuals prepare themselves and their families, and ultimately their community in the event of everything from a power outage to an earthquake.
As an active member of the SFFD NERT community, I highly encourage individuals to take this course. If you’re a parent or an expecting parent, this can be a great way to help you get to know your neighbors and build a support system.
