FAQs

What is changing?

We have transitioned your Personal Life Resources into one user experience. Now that the new website is live, you will access all of the services you previously accessed via the LifeCare and LifeMart websites through the Care platform.

What is the reason for this change?

To give you a single entry point for all your Personal Life Resources, an improved experience, better functionality, and more access options–via web, app, and by phone.

What do I need to do?

Beginning on September 13th, the new website, disney.care.com, will be live. We’ve made it very easy to access your Personal Life Resources in just a few simple steps. If you visit the LifeCare website, you will automatically be redirected to disney.care.com to enroll.

How do I enroll on the Care platform?

  1. Beginning on September 13th, visit disney.care.com and select Join now
  2. You will be sent to Disney MyID to validate your eligibility. Once you have entered your Disney credentials you will automatically be returned to the Care website.
  3. Follow the prompts to provide remaining information.
  4. You will have the option to create a password to log in during future sessions or you will be able to log in using single sign-on through Disney MyID.

You’re all done! You’ll use your Care homepage or the Care app moving forward to access Personal Life Resources.

I was registered as a LifeCare member, what happened to my LifeCare account information?

If you were registered as a LifeCare member prior to the transition, your Lifecare account will automatically be transitioned to a Care account upon your enrollment on the Care platform. You will need to enroll to continue accessing your account.

I was enrolled on Care prior to transition, what happened to my Care account information?

If you already have a Care account tied to your company email address, you should not have to do anything further to access your services.

What is the Care app?

The Care app puts support from Care at your fingertips, ready when you need it. With the app you can access all your Care benefits and streamline how you manage and track your care. You must first enroll in order to use the app. Once enrolled, you will be able to use either single sign-on or your email/password combination to access your account on the app. You can download the Care.com app from the App Store and Google Play

Backup Care FAQs

When should I use Backup Care?

When your regular care is unavailable and you need to work, use Backup Care for your children, adult loved ones, and pets. Turn to Backup Care for school closures, caregiver illness or vacation, or any time your primary care is unavailable.

How do I request Backup Care on the Care platform?

  1. Beginning September 13th, enroll or log in at disney.care.com.
  2. Start your Backup Care request online, through the app, or by calling 1-866-574-7229.
  3. Select Child backup care or Adult backup care.
  4. Choose your preferred Care option: in-home or in-center.
  5. We’ll match you to a caregiver so your loved ones get great care.

What is Backup Care reimbursement and how does it work?

At Care, we want you to have care you trust when you need it most. That’s why we offer reimbursement for Backup Care when you choose to use a caregiver from your personal network rather than one provided by Care. When your regular care is unavailable and you need to work, use a preferred neighbor, family member, sitter, in-home agency, or center and get reimbursed through Care. Backup Care for pets is only through a provider from your personal network.

Dependent Backup Care Update

Effective September 1, 2024, eligible Backup Care members are eligible to use up to 15 days of Backup Care per family when using a friend or family member for adult, child or pet in-home care for the remainder of 2024.

Effective January 1, 2025, the use of a friend or family member to provide care will be limited to pet care reimbursement only.  Members can use up to 15 days of backup care per family using a friend or family member for pet care.

What happens to my remaining LifeCare Backup Care days balance?

If you currently have an available balance of Backup Care days on your LifeCare account, they will transfer to your Care account. Your current LifeCare balance will be reflected as the number of Days Allocated in your Care account after transition.

Are there any changes to how I can use my Backup Care days?

Yes. With Care Backup Care, the Backup Care days in your account are no longer allocated to specific dependents as they were with LifeCare. Your Backup Care balance is available to your family as a whole and you are free to allocate your Backup Care days among your dependents as needed. This offers you more flexibility to address your family’s needs.

What if I have an upcoming Backup Care request on LifeCare?

If you have pre-scheduled Backup Care days on LifeCare, your request is still approved. You will need to enroll to continue scheduling and utilizing Backup Care after the transition date. If you need to cancel an upcoming LifeCare Backup Care request you can do so by visiting the LifeCare Backup Care Center through the link on your Care home page. If canceling by phone, our Backup Care team is available to help facilitate your cancellation request.

Will the dependents I added in LifeCare transfer to Care?

Yes, your dependents and all Backup Care balances will transfer to Care.

How much does Backup Care cost?

If you are using a caregiver provided by Care, in-home care requires a $1 per hour co-pay and in-center care requires a co-pay of $10 per child per day. Care provided by a caregiver from your personal network does not require any co-pay and is reimbursed up to a maximum of $75.00 per day, you will need to pay the provider the full cost initially and submit for reimbursement.

How do I submit a claim for Backup Care reimbursement?

Log into your Care account and select Child care reimbursement, Pet care reimbursement, or Adult care reimbursement. From this page you can add a claim and upload your receipt. If your claim is already in the Care system, you can edit and upload your receipt. Once your receipt is approved, Care will send you a reimbursement via direct deposit or by mailed check. Your claim needs to be submitted within 30 days of the first day of care. You are unable to submit a claim or upload a receipt for care dates beyond this deadline. After you submit a claim, your Backup Care balance will be deducted.

Am I required to get pre-approval in advance of using Backup Care as was the case on LifeCare?

No, you are not required to get preapproval before booking Backup Care on the Care platform. For child or adult Backup Care requests, you are required to book care ahead of time to allow time to locate and secure a caregiver for your needs. We require a minimum of 2 hours’ notice for child care or 24 hours’ notice for adult care.

Am I required to get pre-approval when using a caregiver from my personal network for Backup Care?

You are not required to notify Care in advance when you are using a caregiver from your personal network to provide Backup Care. Simply submit your claim and upload the receipt within 30 days of the first day of care in the Care portal.

What happens if I have to cancel scheduled Backup Care?

If Backup Care is not needed, we ask that you provide 24-hour notice to cancel, otherwise you may still be responsible for the co-pay and the corresponding care time will be deducted from your allotted number of days. If care is being arranged within 24 hours, a refund may not be possible once care is reserved.
