I am a professional child care provider who offers a safe, welcoming environment for children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Unlike a babysitter, I am trained and licensed. I studied Child Development at Miramar College and obtained a degree as an Associate Teacher. While studying at Miramar College, I also work at Childtime in Poway. I am a member of the San Diego County Family Child Care Association and am certified in CPR and First Aid. I have been licensed since January 2006 but also raised my own daughter, who is now 19 and away in college. As a professional caregiver, I expect to be treated with the same courtesy and respect you would show professionals in any other field. I believe that family child care is the best environment for infants and toddlers. The close-knit atmosphere resembles that of family life, and the children do not suffer a difficult transition when they go home with their parents at the end of the day, as opposed to children leaving a large day care center. The children left in my care leave to pre-school knowing their ABCs, numbers, geometric shapes, and children songs, in both English and Spanish, as I offer a bilingual program. I like to form close relationships with the parents, as good communication and compatible goals are vital in our ability to work well together in raising their child. I consider the price you pay for a child to be an investment, not a waste. A child's early education is important in shaping their ability to learn in the future. Lastly, I do sometimes provide care beyond the normal work week, but only in cases of an emergency. This service requires extra fees and is offered only at my discretion.
