I do not recommend this animal hospital because my dog got sick right after his visit last Saturday and now they are ignoring me.

Switched to Whitesburg Animal Hospital this year for my dog's annual checkup because I needed a Saturday appointment. I emailed and said I was okay with waiting until there was an open appointment on a Saturday. Got an email back saying that it would be a very long wait. I explained *again* that I had no problem with waiting.

Six weeks later, I show up for my appointment, and the woman at the desk wanted my dogs medical history from the previous veterinarian. I told her I wasn't aware I needed to get that myself, so I didn't have it with me. She said she'd call the previous vet right then, but of course there was no answer because they are closed on Saturdays. Then she asked if I could contact the previous vet. I had to point out that since they are closed on Saturdays they wouldn't answer my phone call either.

During the checkup, I was told that I could order my dog's heartworm prevention online as usual. But when I ordered, the online pharmacy told me that Whitesburg Animal Hospital only uses paper prescriptions, and I would have to get the paper from WAH and mail it to the online pharmacy. I called WAH several times before it was all sorted out. The piece of information everyone left out was that I could order the medicine online, but ONLY if I used THEIR online pharmacy.

Went back on Saturday 3/25 for my dog to let a booster shot for K9 flu. He had diarrhea that afternoon. I didn't think too much of it at first because he gets an upset stomach on occasion. But by Wednesday he still had diarrhea, was hesitant to eat, and even threw up his breakfast. I immediately contacted the vet, and the woman at the front desk went on a spiel about why I need to make sure my dog is vaccinated. I told her *again* that my dog WAS vaccinated and I wanted to talk to the veterinarian because he was SICK and I was trying to figure out why by process of elimination. She wouldn't put me in touch with a vet, but I got her to at least tell me the name and manufacturer of the booster shot so I could look up the side effects myself.

Looked it up and sure enough my dog's symptoms were listed as side effects. So I emailed (didn't want to talk to the woman at the desk again) to ask if it was normal for those side effects to last so long. I got an email back that said it couldn't possibly be a reaction because any reaction would have begun within 24 hours of the booster shot. Clearly, they hadn't taken the time to fully read my email. So I emailed back and pointed out that the symptoms HAD begun the day of the booster shot. They emailed back and said I should bring him in if I'm concerned.

But after spending more than $500 on his previous two visits, I'm not about to spend money on another visit without at least talking to the vet for 2 minutes to determine if that's necessary.

So this morning I called again. The woman at the desk said she would leave a message. I explained that I didn't want to leave a message, I needed to talk to a veterinarian. She gave me a little speech about how busy they are. I told her that any veterinarian could call me back at any time that suited their schedule-I wasn't particular about who or when. She said she'd let them know.
But it's now after 8:00pm.

Nobody has contacted me. My dog is still sick. I still don't know why. This is not the kind of treatment my dog-or any dog-deserves.
