About

Hi, my name is 'Miss Brenda.' I have had a licensed Family Child Care Home here in Vacaville, CA since moving here from Napa, CA in 1989. I was a licensed child care provider in Napa from 1980 until 1989. I am licensed by the State of CA to care for 14 children at any given time. This amount of children includes 3 infants (defined as any child age 2 and under). I work with an Assistant when I have over 8 kids in my care or have to go somewhere such as an appointment, etc. Anyone age 18 or over that lives in my house or any assistant that works for me has been background checked. I strive to make sure all of the kids in my care feel great about coming to my house and with me and my assistant. I also want them to feel that this place is their home away from home and feel loved. Babies are held, cuddled, and are held when they are drinking their bottles. I open each morning at 6:00 and I close up at 5:30. I serve breakfast, lunch and a p.m. snack. We have a preschool program geared to ages 2 to 5 years old. The children learn very valuable social skills such as taking turns, taking direction from adults other than their parents, group play, in addition to the regular preschool activities. The children have circle time where they listen to stories read from books, finger play and songs. They do artwork with media such as paint, gluing, clay, learning to cut with scissors, etc. We walk to the park down our nature trail, collecting items to create art projects...pine cones, flowers, feathers, etc. The kids get a chance to learn simple cooking skills such as making cookies, their own little pizzas, etc. They also learn to clean up after themselves, washing their own hands, the table, the equipment they used to cook with. I potty train the kids as they seem to me to be old enough to grasp this skill. My homelike atmosphere has been and continues to be a wonderful place that kids will grow, feel secure, learn and be loved and cared for. My home is 1 1/2 blocks from Jean Callison school and I transport school age kids to and from this school, sometimes we walk and other times I drive them. I have many references from former and present clients. I occasionally relax my opening and closing times but this would require an advance arrangement with me and additional fees will be charged.
