UCP-OC's Respite Connection brings trained, adult caregivers together with the parents of special needs children. With their caregiver, children are able to pursue activities outside the home in addition to having a safer and more enriched experience when their parent is away. Respite workers are pre-screened and receive training to ensure that they are reliable, compassionate, and trustworthy. Respite workers attend to all daily living skills, promote communication, assist with homework, decrease maladaptive behaviors and increase compliance with daily activities.
