Mike and Roxann Schmidt are a husband and wife team of private tutors serving the Tri-Valley area (especially Dublin, San Ramon, Pleasanton).

Between the two of us, we have tutored for 20 years and can tutor almost every subject offered in school (except maybe Quantum Mechanics). We both love education and have emergency teaching credentials. In fact, Roxann even has a Master's Degree.

We started tutoring to earn some extra supplemental income to support our family, but we continue because we enjoy helping students succeed.

Mike graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B. S. in Physiology. He has been tutoring/teaching since 1994 for various institutions including:

As a teacher for both two and four-year colleges, Roxann understands the expectations of college-level writing. She has worked with students from various levels including high school students, ESL students and graduate students. She is able to tailor her tutoring to the goals and the needs of each student.

"Tutoring is fulfilling to me because I can see the small and large accomplishments as they happen. It feels like being backstage in a concert. Rather than just seeing the final product (in this case, the final draft of an essay), I am a part of the process that helps to shape a particular piece of writing," says Roxann. "My goal," she adds, "is to help students develop practical tools for approaching reading and writing confidently."
