1 ON 1 READING, WRITING, AND EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING TUTORING
Strategies for Comprehension: When students have trouble comprehending books and literature, I explicitly model and teach active reading strategies such as main ideas, inferring, questioning, and visualizing through guided practice and interaction with the text. This approach also helps reinforce and strengthen writing skills necessary for success in today's classrooms. I can bring your student up to speed while also helping them build their self-confidence and a love of reading.

Writing Support: I provide scaffolding support for struggling writers as well as remediation of grammar skills. I am also able to assist students with research reports, essays, and project planning.

Note Taking Skills: Taking notes is key to your student's success. By performing this task, the student deepens his or her understanding of the main idea of the passage, and better remembers what was read.

Reading support : Sometimes students need to master the essential skills for being a successful reader. Students may struggle with fluency-reading too slowly or struggling to decode unfamiliar words. I can provide an initial assessment of phonological awareness to pinpoint areas where remediation is needed. Using the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading, I will help your child improve their phonological awareness, decoding, and fluency skills.

Organization: I will teach your student how to set up an organizational system to manage notebooks, study materials, and assignments and will work with your student to practice routines essential for day to day organization.

Time Management: Using time effectively is critical. My tutoring will enable your student to stay focused, finish all of their assignments, and stay on schedule.
