Townie Tots

Townie Tots Day Care is a family home daycare located in East Providence, RI. We are a small, structured, fun and nurturing environment for children, ages 12 months to 5 years old. We want children to feel safe and excited to come to daycare each day. We hope to facilitate growth and learning for all our children through play, exploration and planned activities. Lunch as well as two snacks are provided daily for all children.

My name is Cassie and I own this home family daycare. We focus on learning through play, creativity, exploration and imagination. I have a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling, specializing in child and adolescent mental health. I have been working with children of all ages for approximately 17 years, whether it be as a babysitter, nanny, crisis counselor, behavioral therapist, mental health counselor as well as being a mother to three children (1 year, 2.5 years and 4.5 years old).

As a group we engage in weekly craft activities, baking/cooking, as well as age appropriate sensory play opportunities. Given my experience working in the mental health field, I will be teaching basic self regulation skills, identifying and coping with feelings, age appropriate safety and social skills as well as respect for others.

We have circle-time each morning to allow the children to participate in songs, movement activities, practicing naming and recognizing colors, shapes, numbers and letters followed by daily calendar and schedule as well as story time. We sing songs and have dance parties daily.

There is group activity time which is geared toward allowing children to engage based on their own individual abilities. This activity could be a craft, cooking or baking, a learning exercise, music class, sensory play, outdoor play or through the use of play-doh!

After lunch, we have a mandatory quiet time/rest period for all of the children. Older children can use this time to read while younger children nap. In the afternoon, we offer periods of free play along with small group activities to encourage thinking, imaginative play, and learning.

There is a good sized yard which is fully fenced in. We have a large play set to include swings, playhouse, rock wall and slide. The yard also has several ride on vehicles and bikes. In the warmer months, children have access to the sandbox and water play daily.
