Tiny Adventurers Childcare

We love to do things the natural way! I practice Attachment Parenting, which is a fancy term for fulfilling the emotional needs of children by giving responsive care. This means I listen to children and respect what they are "saying" (verbal or otherwise). In childcare it is so important to respect the spirit and individuality of EVERY child. Little ones are whole, complete people, even though they may not be able to do everything for themselves yet or communicate their needs and feelings clearly yet! They need our help and deserve our respect. I believe it makes everyone's life easier and the world a better place when we act on this understanding.

I was studying early childhood education and working as a nanny, and when I had my son last year, I decided to combine them and put what I had learned into action! One educational philosophy in particular grabbed my heart, Waldorf education. It is a wonderful philosophy and I continue to learn about it as I implement more ideas and strategies into my home care. When you practice Waldorf, the kids are actively engaged in everything that happens in their day. Everything is a fantastic learning opportunity, and I don't just mean repeating color names. When kids join in with community actions such as preparing food for a shared meal, it not only teaches them how to prepare that dish, it empowers them with a sense of self worth and shows them how they fit into the world. These ideas help toddlers as they learn how to interact with the world around them.
