Third Avenue seeks to provide a fun, safe, learning environment where children, ages 2 to 6 years, can find comfort in a home away from home setting.

Our developmentally based program incorporates a flexible balance of structured and unstructured activities designed to enhance self-direction in each child. Our multi-age and cultural setting encourages children to learn from each other. We believe that children must be active participants in their own learning experiences. Teachers exemplify a positive approach to a child s attitude and enthusiasm. Teachers guide children in making connections from classroom learning to the real world through play, imitation, and exploration.

Facilitate learning through a variety of age appropriate activities, and monitor individual growth.

Help guide children to become respectful and responsible members of the classroom community by providing many social situations.

Develop problem solving and creative thinking skills through discussion, role-playing, role modeling, and real life experiences.

Learn to follow classroom routines, make smooth transitions, and listen to and follow directions through repetition and role modeling.

Develop language through songs, stories, poems, finger plays, and conversation.

Develop self-esteem and self- sufficiency by learning to feed, dress, and toilet him/herself.

Develop large motor muscles through cooperative games, dance, gymnastics, yoga, and outdoor play.

Foster cognitive and social skills such as cooperation, fine motor, gross motor, and listening by offering various real life activities such as cooking, woodworking, and sewing.
