Companion care, also known as "hands off" care, is perfect for the individual who is very independent and requires no assistance withthe activities of daily living (ADLs). Some activities consist of transportation, grocery shopping and errands, picking up prescriptions, making meals, light cleaning, companionship, laundry and ironing, medication reminders, and sorting through mail.
Personal care, also known as "hands on" care, is appropriate for the individual who is less independent and requires assistance with the activities of daily living (ADLs) from a certified nursing assistance (CNA) or home health aide (HHA). Some activities are assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming, toileting, transferring, walking, feeding, assistance with self-administration of medications, and transportation.
Nursing care is skilled home care provided by a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN). Some activities are medication box set up, medication administration, ostomy/catheter care, after care surgery, injections, blood sugar testing, wound care, peg tube feeding/care, PICC line care, and home safety evaluations.
