The Studio: A Preschool Experience

WELCOME to A Children's Studio - a high-quality, developmentally appropriate home-based after school "enrichment" and tutoring program for students of the San Marcos elementary school, Jolie-Ann Leichtag. A Children's Studio provides a unique, culturally sensitive, creative, play-based program that addresses social/emotional and academic skills. We nurture the whole child, building on individual strengths and interests to stimulate curiosity and engagement. Drawing on the Reggio Emilia philosophy, A Children's Studio is a hands-on experiential experience where children have supplemental tutoring, enrichment, and after school recreation. *New, Saturday "Prek in the Park" coming Fall 2022.

Your teacher, Ms. Laurie, holds three California teaching credentials and over 15 years teaching experience.

A Children's Studio is located in a park-like gated community where Ms. Laurie has lived for 15 years raising her two children and family "service" pets, 5 year and 7 year-old ex-racing Greyhounds and 7 year-old Chihuahua. Her home has a garden, a fenced backyard exploration space and the community offers two playgrounds, nature trails, and barnyard animals. "The Studio" is walking distance from Jolie-Ann Leichtag Elementary.

Elementary school is a time of wonder and imagination! The simple act of "playing" is how your child learns initially and prefers to learn as they grow. At The Studio, your child will be and feel safe in an inviting environment interacting with no more than 5 other children, learning materials, and planned activities that stimulate development in the areas of: Language & Literacy, Cognition, Mathematics, Logic & Reasoning, Gross & Fine Motor Physicality, and Health.

The Studio offers 2, 3, 4 & 5 day after school options parallel to the San Marcos Unified School District, Jolie-Ann Elementary calendar. A healthy afternoon snack will be provided. The hourly rate is $20 per child with a 2 hour minimum. *Ms. Laurie will pick up children at school at 3pm and Wednesday 2pm, walk/drive the group back to the Studio for a healthy daily snack, 1 hour of homework tutoring, 1 hour of outdoor play, and 1 hour of enrichment. Each day's enrichment lesson will differ: example: Monday/Arts, Tuesday/Music, Wednesday/Cooking, etc.
