The Ridge Preschool And Daycare

At The Ridge, we believe that children should be allowed to grow at their own pace and to learn in ways that help them become confident in themselves as learners. We have three primary goals:

To provide a safe, nurturing environment for children.
To help children learn about themselves and the world around them through play and exploration.
To encourage children to feel good about themselves as learners.
These goals provide guidance for everything that we do in our programs. Children at The Ridge Preschool and Daycare are given the opportunity to explore, experiment, learn and have fun in a safe and healthy way.

Child daycare provides care for infants and toddlers on a daily basis or as needed by a family. Children from six weeks to four years of age are accepted for daycare. Daycare provides careful supervision of each child, meals, nap time and opportunities to learn and grow through play.

Preschool provides a more structured environment and curriculum. The goal of preschool is to care for children while preparing them for kindergarten. This is accomplished through play and other structured activities. The Ridge School follows a curriculum that is based on each student's interest and passions as well other activities introduced by the staff. Following a curriculum called the Emergent Curriculum, we start with the children's interests and use them as an important source for building a rounded curriculum. Emergent Curricums are often used in Reggio Emilia-based schools, where the goal is to teach children how to make their knowledge useful in everyday life. This approach is "based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment based on the interests of the children through a self-guided curriculum."
