About
My name is Elizabeth and I am a wife, mother, teacher, and tutor. I truly enjoy working with children and I am currently getting my Master's in Elementary Teaching.
I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2012 with a degree in International Business and Art. During my undergraduate years I traveled to Mexico and Honduras to volunteer in numerous orphanages and I also set up youth soccer programs for at-risk children. This is when I started to realize the passion I have for working with children and teaching. I also started to regret my business degree. I am now pursuing my Master's in Elementary Education and I am loving every minute of it!
In my Master's program I have learned how to assess the needs of struggling readers with a comprehensive reading inventory. Then I create fun reading activities tailored to the individual needs of the student. Typically I work with the student for an hour to an hour and a half once or twice a week for eight weeks. Then I communicate the achievements or further needs of the struggling reading. We reassess after eight weeks and parents decide whether or not to continue with tutoring.
