The Humble Bee Pre-kindergarten Preparatory

The Humble Bee Pre-Kindergarten Preparatory, nestled in on the westside of Vancouver and surrounded by the Lakeshore and Felida neighborhoods, is a private preschool for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years of age, designed to ease the transition into Kindergarten.

The Humble Bee believes in balance and an environment that exposes children to diversity and a full spectrum of learning experiences. This includes activities that are child-centered and teacher-supported, exposure to a mixture of play-based and academic learning models, and encouragement of individual interest, responsibility and growth, as well as group collaboration and social development.

Cultivating a child s natural desire to learn is of supreme importance, thus The Humble Bee promotes exploration, innovation and activities and learning opportunities that are pure, realistic, hands-on and authentically engaging for children. The Humble Bee is a place of brain-friendly education, supported by cognitive research that will stimulate early childhood development. For example, on any given day, your child may find themselves gardening, singing in French, exploring nature, learning yoga and meditation, developing reading and math skills, or even taking an advanced painting lesson, amongst many other things.

Our low teacher to child ratio assures that all students are receiving the attention and care that they need to flourish.

The Humble Bee's Director, Jennifer Johnson, was inspired to open her own private preschool after spending over ten years in the field of education and coaching. Jennifer obtained her Bachelor s Degree in English and Language Arts and her Teaching Certification from Washington State University in 2006, where she graduated with Honors, Magna Cum Laude. She also studied International Business and Finance at Hawai i Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawai i.

Jennifer has worked with students of every age and her breadth of experience in the field of education is wide. All of her experiences have come together to build a solid foundation in teaching and learning. She is a teacher who is always learning and growing, changing her approach based upon what she believes her students need and given the best current practices in education, which includes being well-versed in the national adoption of the Common Core State Standards.

We are now taking reservations for both the 2015-2016 and the 2016-2017 School Years. Enrollment is on a space available basis.
