It is my priority to maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for the children in my care. I model procedures, such as hand washing and eating a well-balanced diet, that they will use throughout their childhood to reduce sickness and sustain their overall health. While closely supervising, I provide them the freedom to calculate their own risks and overcome obstacles, building their confidence to learn. By establishing a daily routine and providing open-ended learning materials, I encourage the children to feel secure in their exploration of new interests and cultivate their social and emotional skills. I use the Missouri Early Learning standards to design hands-on activities that enhance each child's physical, cognitive, communication, and creative abilities. These lesson plans offer the children an opportunity to develop gross and fine motor skills, a love for music and art, a curiosity for science and math, and increase their interest in literature. I strive to create activities that will also cater to each child's developmental level and their individual interests.
