Sunshine Companions provides Personal Care and Companion/Sitter services to individuals in their own homes and communities, who need assistance caring for themselves as a result of old age, sickness, disability and/or other inflections.
Personal Care Services include but are not limited to the following activities:
Assisting with eating, including:
preparing food for clients with eating difficulties
monitoring food and liquid intake;
following special diets; and
observing eating behaviors
-Assisting withbathing, including:
bed bathing
sponge bathing
tub bathing
showering
perineal care
-Assisting with tooth care, including:
brushing permanent teeth
flossing
removing, cleaning, and inserting dentures.
-Assisting/providing grooming, including:
shaving assistance;
beard trimming; and,
applying make-up
-Assisting/providing hair care, including:
shampooing
brushing or styling
-Assisting with ambulation, including:
one-person pivot transfer;
using wheelchair, walker and/or cane
-Assisting with self-administered medication, including:
reminding client to take medications
providing water for oral medication
opening pill bottles or dispensing medications from blister packs, which have been prepared by a Pharmacist;
storing medications
reassuring the client that medication has been taken
-Assisting/providing basic skin care, including:
washing and drying
applying non-prescription body lotions or creams
observing skin changes.
-Assisting with toileting, including:
providing bowel or bladder incontinence care
assisting with urinals, bed side commodes
emptying or changing external urinary collecting devices, including catheter bags.
-Encouraging clients to perform normal body movements, as tolerated
-Encouraging clients to follow prescribed exercise programs
-Assisting with prosthetic such as applying/removing/cleaning hearing aids and limbs
Companion/Sitter services include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
a. providing companionship, friendship and emotional support;
b. talking listening, sharing experiences,
c. playing games/cards, reading to client etc.;
d. helping keep clients in contact with family, friends and the outside world;
e. providing transportation to medical appointments, grocery store and errands;
f. accompanying clients to recreational and/or social events;
g. assisting with plans for visits and outings;
h. writing or typing letters/correspondence;
