In-Home Daycare
723 N Rockford Ave, Rockford, IL 61107
We are a family oriented home with the experience and education to properly provide activities for all ages. As a private nanny for several years, I decided that caring for children in our home would be the best option for our family and the children I would care for next. After a year of working part time with me, my husband will be joining me full time, allowing us to grow as a daycare but maintain our family roots. We have our own two children, one enrolled full-time and the other part time, both having shared their life and grown with a variety of friends.
Our daycare is very simple. We spend our days as a family would. This summer is finding us more relaxed with lots of free play and keeping a basic schedule. We have the luxury of flexibility between the two of us, and the kids enjoy attending all kinds of local activities. The school year is more structured. School transportation is offered, as is homework help. We spend the day with our youngest friends and in the afternoon one of us brings home the older kids, who are allowed free time to relax before homework is started. Most importantly for us, no matter what our days are like or who is with us, each child is allowed to progress at their own pace. We encourage them to try new things and challenge themselves. Our youngest friends are physically testing themselves while the older ones are learning to enhance social skills. We supervise these kinds of learning but interfere only for reasons concerning safety and group wellness. Positive social behavior is taught and required both in the home and in public. Art, science, history, and READING are all very important to the kids we already have. Our learning is done in a group setting and interactive. Children are challenged based on individual abilities while belonging to the group. We do not use any sort of drill work such as worksheets. We are not a school.
Meals are healthy and well balanced, focusing on fresh fruit and vegetables, but we include fun treats as often as we can. Kids go to the grocery store with us. We choose our meals together and we eat them together.
Above all, our kids get to be kids. We focus on positive behavior, a love of learning, and good eating habits. We are parents, it is what we do. However, we are also practical people. We understand that each child comes from a different home than ours and we make room for our kids to be themselves.
