Stony Brook School follows an emergent, play-based curriculum for preschool aged children and is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Located within the Jamaica Plain Brewery Complex, we offer a convenient, T-accessible location, with 3,4, or 5 day enrollment options for parents needing full or part time preschool care for their children ages 2.9 - 6 years. We offer 6,7, 8 and 9 hour (per day) enrollment options, and your choice of start times at either 8:00, 8:30, or 9am. We operate as a full year around preschool program to better accommodate working parents.
Our classrooms provide a unique, sensory rich environment, filled with high quality learning materials that provoke children’s curiosity, foster a spirit of collaboration and inquiry, and encourage social engagement.
Our experienced teachers combine their understanding of child development with their observations and the emerging interests of children, to prepare thoughtful learning environments that invite children to make further discoveries, generate new ideas, experiment, and make meaning of their learning within the context of their play.
