Star House

Star House Preschool is a play based developmental preschool located on a hillside in Woodfin, NC looking out at the mountains of Western, NC. It is a school for 3-5 year old children. With over 20 years of teaching experience, artist Heather Ward-Migner transforms her family home, each school day, into Star House Preschool. It is a place to honor our love of learning, encourage exploration, and support the importance of play. It is a school that celebrates kindness, the phenomenal world, and everyday blessings. The school is five half-days a week and runs from 9:00-1:00. All students are enrolled for the full five days. Wholesome, vegetarian, gluten, and cow dairy free, lunches and snacks are prepared and served daily. Children have jobs that they select each morning and complete each day. Children participate in a morning meeting where they sing, dance, sit in silence-for seconds working up to minutes, and discuss the day at hand. The school has seven indoor play areas that change monthly based on the children's interests. Children spend an hour a day inside and an hour a day outside navigating choice play. Outside, there are gardens, compost piles, chickens, a play structure, a climber, and a dirt pile. Each day, there are two suggested activities or projects that students can participate in. The school year runs September-June.

This summer, we will have seven creative, week-long, half-day summer camps. The camps will run from 10:00am-2:00pm. lunch and snacks will be provided.
Each camp costs $200 per child per week of camp this includes all project materials, instruction, free play inside and outside, and games and songs based on camp theme.

Fortastic Creations: This camp is for 3 to 7 year old campers

The Week of July 9th and the Week of July 30th
Fairy and Gnome Fun This camp is for 6-8 year old campers.

The Week of August 6th
Take Apart Arts Camp, This camp is for 6-10 year old campers
