St. Monica Prek

St. Monica Parish PreK is a full day STEM+Arts PreK program for children ages 4 and 5. All students must be 4 by August 31st and fully potty trained.

Our Facility
We have two spacious classrooms each with a WA state certified teacher, full time teaching assistant, who is also fluent in Spanish, and a third floating assistant that is available to both classrooms. We have just expanded our playground and are in the process of creating an outdoor learning classroom which will include water play, building, climbing, art, a field, observation/science, writing, and garden. The expansion project will be completed the end of July.

Our Curriculum
We believe children learn best through hands on active exploration. Each day students are given three hours of uninterrupted free play; two hours indoors with daily access to dramatic play, art, science, blocks, writing, books, and manipulatives. They have two recess periods a day, a 60 minute recess mid-day and a 20 minute recess in the afternoon. To focus academics on the individual needs of each student they are divided into small groups and rotate through a math, reading, writing, and story comprehension activity weekly. Because we are part of St. Monica Parish School, a K-8 school, our students also attend upper school specialists weekly in Spanish, Music, Library, and Yoga.

Through meaningful hands-on experiences and within a safe and loving environment St. Monica students are working to become Christian role models, life long learners, effective communicators, and responsible citizens.
